First major racing weekend of the season for most of the members of Team StopTech. In World Challenge, all classes were present for the first race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin Texas.
In the top-level GT class, both Realtime Acuras ran strong, the team adapting well to the new RWD configuration of their cars. Some sorting still needs to be done, but they scored an impressive 10th and 12th place against the field of turn-key factory GT3 cars from the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Nissan, Chevy, Dodge and more.
In TC, Shea Holbrook and teammate Jason Fichter ran their new Honda Accords hard, Shea scoring a pair of podiums for the weekend - a very positive start to the 2016 season.
Next week the Pirelli World Challenge visits its first street course of 2016 with a stop in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The Trans Am season opener at Sebring was perhaps even more impressive for Team StopTech. The TA2 results found StopTech equipped cars in the top 5 spots! 2015 Champion Gar Robinson was the winner, followed by Adam Andretti, Tony Buffomante, Shane Lewis and Canadian rookie, Louis-Phillippe Montour. Next up for Trans Am is Road Atlanta in early April.
In Circle Track action, Tommy Lemons scored his second win of the season in NASCAR Asphalt Late Model Stock Car action running our new 48 Vane AeroRotors in front and Pillar Vane Rotors in back at North Carolina's Caraway Speedway. Even more impressive, the win came one day after flu-like symptoms prevented him from turning any laps in practice the day before.
