As 2016 gets rolling, we wanted to give all of you a heads up about how to follow Team StopTech Racing this year. First up is Pirelli World Challenge (PWC), where StopTech continues to be a major sponsor and the Official Brake System of the series.
World Challenge is a perfect fit for StopTech, with road racing and production-based racecars being in our bloodlines. This type of racing most closely matches what StopTech does best - providing the best balanced big brake kits for sportscars on the street or track.
In the top-level Grand Touring (GT) class, StopTech will once again be on the Realtime Racing/Acura TLX race cars of Ryan Eversely and Peter Cunningham. This class of racing is truly world-class with GT3 homologated racecars from the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, Aston Martin, Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, Cadillac, Dodge and more competing wheel-to-wheel on some of the best road and street courses in North America.
The Grand Touring Sport (GTS) field is composed of highly modified street cars that boast 300-400 hp. StopTech is on several competitors in this class, which features American muscle cars like the Camaro and Mustang, going up against everything from the Maserati Trofeo, Audi TT RS and Kia Optima, to the Scion FR-S and Subaru WRX STi.
The Touring Car (TC) field is filled with slightly less powerful (200-300 hp) modified street cars - most of them running StopTech equipment. Every race you'll find huge fields of TC entries, from Miatas and Jettas to Mustangs and Genesis Coupes. For 2016, we're excited to welcome Shea Holbrook back into Team StopTech and back into TC with the all-new Honda Accord. We expect great things from her this year.
Touring Car A (TCA) and B (TCB) are even less powerful, nearly stock vehicles with low costs and few modifications besides safety equipment. Huge fields of Mini Coopers, Civics, Fits, Fiat 500s, Miatas, Mazda2s and the like make for some of the most entertaining racing around.
